Another shot from DeSoto, TX (just south of Dallas). It strikes me that there is something very wrong and very right about this activity. The camera captures a still moment, of a man above the trees in the dimming light--perhaps a sort of flight that many of us have imagined. A testament to the imagination and skill of humankind. However the reality is that these gas-propelled packs are very noisy and create quite the buzz, which hardly feels restful or peaceful. It's like Mary Poppins sails away with her umbrella, but the umbrella is spitting out 130 decibels!

My only lens has now been mailed off to Canon, with a detailed explanation of how the autofocus has failed. It will probably be a couple of weeks before I get it back. In the meantime, I will have to scrape the bottom of the barrel for some decent pictures to post. The good part of this is that it allows me to continue to practice my photoshop skills. This picture itself is "unnaturally" photoshopped. I'll let you guess how.
